start writing now

When it comes to writing people often complain that they don´t know what to write and from where to start. They don’t get the idea how to start. They wait for the right moment when the right idea comes and they will start but unfortunately it never comes.

In fact there is nothing wrong with the present time. If you look closely there are several things scattered around that can give us a good start. I agree nowadays we are surrounded by nonliving things like chairs, tables, laptop and our mobile phones but our mind is constantly running and associating objects with persons. This association is nothing but a recollection of our memories.

You can write about things that remind you about any person, place or a thing. However it is your choice what you want to write. Each our day is a fresh start. It is just that we think that we are living a routine life. Every regular day has some uncommon incidences that could be penned and shared among readers.

Let me give you an incidence that unfortunately took place today itself. I was working in my office when my co-worker came in. After a general salutation of good morning I, in a very causal way, asked about her friend about whom she told me that he earns 30+ in a company just as a fresher content writer. Well, today I asked about him and I felt flabbergasted at her reply. In a good flow of speed she completed herself that she never said any such thing. She has never talked with me about such things and at last she said she doesn’t want to talk with me at all.

Well, if someone doesn’t want to talk with me, I can understand that but what about the reaction? I left my work place for some time then I came back to finish few things which were important.

After lunch break I tried to search some keywords on Google. Soon I find the following sentence: “Men’s lives center on the society and women’s live center on the family.” Of course the context of the sentence must be different from my search queries but that makes me think that society is made up of one on one family and family is made up of women then there is no question why our society is on so much chaos.

Humpty Dumpty Poem & My Life

Some moments are like a whiff of romance from the bygone days that bring me back in the days where things were like ivory, smooth and simple. I feel afresh as those impulses of energy run in my veins. Happy were those times when I was in school and school and home were my world. My Word, which I covered with my little steps, was so sweet however I was so ignorant of those happy days. I had friends. I had fights with them. I had time to run in the fields to count who can win a run. Wining and loosing was a part of the play, easily acceptable part of life. But things are now not so simple. Now I work hard to have a very few friends the rest seems more like competitors. Wining is not easy whereas I can’t afford to be a loser. Now it is a game to play with all means. Everyone is clever, cunning and street smart. This life is often so painful. It consumes all our life saving energy, always busy with some destructive thoughts, always weaving plots to play dirty. Sometimes I look back and remember how sweet where the days when we were reading our nursery rhyme: “Humpty Dumpty sat on wall.”

Who knew that these rhymes we were reading loud to remember them by heart in our nursery will leave such an important influence in our life. How could I know that these simple sounding plays of words that were written by Lewis Carol had such a deep hidden meaning and that could remain in my heart for the lifetime and teach me its deep meaning about the fallacy of life.

Our class teachers were strict and the fear of their anger and punishment made us to mug-up this poem. Soon it was fun to recite.

Now I know simple days passed so easily from us without knowing how simple they were.  Memories of those days are schooling new things to me even today and giving me the undulating and intonation of vibrations of joy. I am happy to feel that those were my days when we, friends in a playful, jovial mood entered the premises of our school and had fun while learning new chapters from our books. Those frolicking times had so much debonair things in life. Simple learning and simple tests but now life is tough.

We had place for everything: a classroom for study, cafeteria for lunch and all the rest places to play. I remember them all as yesterday when we had so many places to play, so many friends to share our lunch boxes with. No matter whose mother cooked what, we were always ready to share and eat.

Time like a puff of wind passed. We were so happy that there were no walls of caste and religion, no rich or poor were dividing our minds. We were belonging to one school, wearing one uniform and sharing our lunch.

Slowly we grew old. Our requirements increased. Our bonding became weak and the cobweb started to spread its ugly net all over our mind. Our uniform became stylish, our friendship became phony, and our words became selective.

I found myself weak without friends. Life seemed a cunning game for success, a rat run for money, power and lust.

I felt, I was in a foreign land, everything seemed stranger and I sat alone battling with my own thoughts and I found the contradicting thoughts made me more confused and soon like a Humpty dumpty I found myself sitting on the wall of confusion. I really feared from having a great fall.

The meaning of fall was coming closer to me with its multi-fold of experience. I found I had come out on a long mental journey in an obscure wood of wisdom and vice. I need to learn to clear the cobwebs and understand the true purpose of life.

I often think money is means and not the purpose of life but finding the fine balance often distracts me. I feel I am divided or may be confused.

It is true clarity comes only after the ashen taste of experiences in life. I have tasted some of my share probably. It was of course arid. But if I look around there are thousand and one example of people who passed the long tunnel of dark days and reach the lights. Shall I wait?

I know that our experience can make or break us. However our one experience can’t predict the same in future. The whole range of experience suddenly sometime changes and bitterness of life suddenly gets effaced. Indeed I have read this in books. Books are also written by our life.

This idea of confusion helps us to learn more and understand the life, not just around us but from the time less known to us. I know learning is always a slow process. Life is full of ups and downs and the fall is always great only because it makes the learning more interesting.

The days of my childhood learning remain a main part of my life. I got the idea of life. The great wall of Humpty always helped me to make the wall of strength and support.

I can say several people have had acquired high positions in life, fat earning, high living and better social status that made them powerful, influential. I can say misfortune doesn’t leave their life. I feel their life at some point of time looks like an empty egg and is no good for anyone. They acquired all with foul means and can always play foul.

The real purpose of life is not fulfilling material gains and kills anyone who comes in the way. I sometime think life is so full of material things. Man made things have become so important that God given things have become trivial, small and futile.

In life everything has a worth, value and price but a few things which God has bestowed us are priceless. Insufficient attention over the divine somehow cut the rich vein of inner peace and the transformation of small things to the wonders of life.

I still wonder about my nursery rhymes which were so powerful that their influence kept my heart full of virtues.

Surprising health benefits of Sex

Sex always remains a curiosity for human. It is the fifth most googled word on google. Recent studies say that the average person has sex 127 times per year and the desirable length of time for sex is between seven to thirteen minutes.

  1. Sex burns 360 calories a day.  The average session of sex burns between 50 and 100 calories. Having sex 3 times a week burns 7500 calories per year. That’s the equivalent of jogging 75 miles. The more intense the sex, the more calories are burned: up to 15,000 calories annually (at a frequency of 3 times weekly). 15,000 calories equals over 4 pounds ofweight loss per year!
  2. Sex improves sleep. A good night’s sleep reduces tension, feelings of stress, nervousness, and irritability. After a night of no sleep- attractiveness decreases by 6% and visual tiredness increases by 19%. Lack of sleep elevates the stress hormones by 37%. Women with good sleep habits are 13% happier. 12% of women say sleep troubles interfere with their relationship.1 in 4 live-in couples in the US frequently report being too tired for sex.
  3. Sex reduces the risk of prostrate cancer.  A 2004 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association analyzed data on 29,342 men and found that guys who had 21 or more orgasms a month were about 30 percent less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who racked up only four to seven a month. So, tell your wife it’s doctor’s orders.
  4. Kissing each day will keep the dentist away. Kissing encourages saliva to wash food from the teeth and lowers the level of the acid that causes decay, preventing plaque build-up. Kissing can burn around 120-325 calories an hour, or around 2-5 calories a minute. Engaging in long make-out sessions with your partner is not only good for your relationship; it is also good for your waistline. A 10 minute make-out session with your partner each morning and each evening could burn up to 100 calories a day. That’s 36,500 calories a year, or just over 10 pounds worth of weight loss.
  5. Sex is an instant cure for mild depression. It releases endorphins into the bloodstream, producing a sense ofeuphoria and leaving you with a feeling of well-being.
  6. Sex is a beauty treatment. When women make love they produce hormones that make their hair shine and skin glow.  Gentle relaxed lovemaking reduces your chances of skin blemishes. Wild sex makes you sweat which cleanses the pores making for a healthy body. Sex brings relief to head pains. It makes the blood flow to the small capillaries. It is a natural antihistamine. It will relieve stuffy nose and sinuses. This one is almost embarrassing to list because it is so lame, but as we all know lovemaking burns off the calories from all the food you ate today.
  7. The more sex you have, the more you will be offered. The sexually active body gives off greater quantities ofchemicals called pheromones. These subtle sex perfumes drive the opposite sex crazy!
  8. Sex can reduce a fever because of the sweat produced. It works as a natural antihistamine that combats fever and even asthma.
  9. A medical study conducted in Pennsylvania showed that people who have sex once or twice a week have their immune systems boosted slightly.
  10. On average, it takes two tablespoons of blood to get a man’s penis erect.

Help Needs Time

“Everyone has their own crosses to bear.” I said this to myself. It was a really long day and I needed some rest. I was sitting in a garden near my office feeling unhinged due to office’s small- small struggle. It was evening and the sun was mild and falling over the green grass and plants making them more beautiful. After a short while I started enjoying the natural beauty that spread around me. Tall trees were standing straight in a row at the four corners of the garden. The green bed of grass was everywhere and at some corners a row was made for ornamental plants to grow. A few iron and cemented benches were positioned here and there. In fact I occupied one of the benches. It was a good feeling to sit here for a while after the long day in the office.

Suddenly two people who were talking while walking in my direction drew my attention. They sat down on a nearby bench. They were quite audible to me even from a distance. One man said: “I am sick of working here. The whole day phone-calling team makes call and along with them I need to do my writing job. It is a torture of its own kind. My job requires peace but there is none. Each month there are some unwanted expenses and my small salary keeps my mind distracted. I can no longer work at this salary in such noisy office and fueling my problem my manager is always after my life. I told him to increase my salary or I will have to leave.”

I beg to smile while thinking that no one is happy with the manager. In fact manger is also not happy with his meetings and higher management. Unhappiness has chain reaction.

Second one corrected him: “Don’t say this so openly. You have 365 days to prove yourself but manger has only one day to write about you and that can ruin all your long efforts.”

“No, when I joined, HR showed me rosy pictures but after joining I find that there are no roses only thorns. So horrifying.”

“That is why I am forcing you to stretch yourself some more and work for our magazine. You have worked for me for one year and it is possible that I may start paying you soon.”

“I agree, I worked for you without any intention of getting paid but now I don´t have time. I am working so long in office and when I return home I don’t feel to see my laptop for any work purpose.”

Sitting on this bench, I suddenly felt, I was getting involved in their talk and again getting the same arid feeling of office. Mostly every organization has similar stories as the one I am facing. It is better if I take a brisk walk now and tone up respiratory system. I walked till I was perspired enough. I felt to sit again on a bench.

I found many people came there for evening walk by then. I saw them sitting there while talking. I felt curious to go near them and listen to them. I found one was only listening silently and other was speaking. He was frustrated. He was saying there was no article in his hands and very soon new month was coming.

Slowly the silent man said: “I told you I don’t have time to write. Company has sucked my blood, consumed all my energy. When I go home I just want to sleep. I need time to start afresh. I have to either prove or switch.”

I don’t know what happened but that another man suddenly turned emotional. He was telling him: “We have worked together for one long year. We attained several parties. We took interviews there. People liked our work. Some PR agencies showed their interest in us. Now you are withdrawing. I will pay you. Trust me.”

That man showed his helplessness.

“I can pay you. We are doing well. I know you have problems but we can try. I will give you what you are earning now but you have to work as I say.”

“Why don’t you understand every other person in the office has ideas but not money to support them? You asked for help. I helped you for free. I live in an unknown city, with no help; it is hard to go like this any longer.”

This man was frustrated too. Next man looked at him for some time then left him while saying I will come to you when I will have money.

I saw the man going and soon he disappeared. Second man was there without a word. I wanted to talk with him but some reservation of thought stopped me.

I saw soon the other man also walked away. It was now dusk. Lights were on in the garden and atmosphere was calm. I felt to ask myself “can he pay?” Sure I know when milk is for free then why someone would buy a cow.

Voice From Corner

Victor Hugo once said “Life is the flower for which LOVE is the Honey.” Surprisingly I remember this sentence as a mellifluous voice rolls into my ears and I felt to look toward the corner from where the voice travelled. Till now she had reached by me. A calmly girl, slim, in skimpy clothes with a body of flattering skin and luscious lips invited my attention. She gently asked: “Can we sit in the corner for a love bite. It is just for five hundred only.”

No wonder I was in a beer bar which was getting crowded with greedy lovers and vendor of love. Looking into her eyes I pretended – “not now” but she held my hands into hers and smiled. It was a soft, delicate and at the same time powerful, strong and full of lust.

A friend suddenly dragged my attention and I left her there and walked near the bar where I ordered for a beer bottle and soon slipped into the dance floor. Songs, Lights and beers – a combination that energized my nerve and my body start to dance.

I can say that the idea of someone nearer was distracting me. Time and again I was looking at the girl and the other delicate vendors. Surely, all were not like her but equally intoxicating.

Life has its own music and its own dance and everyone is intoxicated within it. We as a writer often try to watch at this slice of the life and when it comes about wine and the women for the evening we have some bigger name. In fact every big writer has something or the other about them to say and in every decade and century books and novels were written.

Writers have their own intoxications of wine and woman and if I talk about myself I love to read the short stories of guy de Maupassant who has a fondness for writing about prostitutes. His story has a brilliant depiction of places and people and their psychology.

Women as a vendor of love who has a mark of coquettish smile that hide a sea within where men fall in love and in his short story – “The doubtful happiness” where the protagonist says: “she can’t love without deceiving.”

Ah! Who on such night in a bar like to find a loyal vendor? Here women are bees who can fly from flowers to flowers and men…

Men are always flower always ready to find new honey. Summer Set Maugham in his novel “Of Human Bondage” with his protagonist Philip who fell in love with a stewardess whom he met in a restaurant and gradually met his arid fortune.

Passionate energy that can make you creative or it can leads you fatal ends. Thomas Hardy in his Novel “Jude The Obscure” where Jude says: “Neither he belongs to human nor belongs to ghost.” Love is very mysterious and its bites are often unmatched.

I looked for my bottle. I felt I really needed one. Agreed, it is really very unromantic to remember the arid stories of someone at such a passionate night.

I found my friend who is married to a working girl – found one girl enticing, inviting and promising and he wanted to take her in a corner. I think our working life has grown so deep into our relationship that there is competition between sexes and bar and lounge has a place to relax otherwise in our matrimony there is hardly a room for love.

These girls can see men who can afford her services and offers her drinks. Drinks are bitter in taste but the taste of their wine is sweeter and more intoxicating and brings their lovers in a better intonation of joy and the dance goes beyond control, longer and more sensuous. It is more a heavy petting than just a dance.

Indeed I have seen such dance in the movie Dirty Dancer. Body skimming the body and heart is touching the heart. The sexual thrust is increasing and love potion needing more thrill.

Centaury passed but the place and objects of love are with no difference. If we go back in time of Maupassant (1849 – 1893) Prostitution was not seen as degradingfact rather a power women using against her desire to have what they wanted. In his novella and short story one can read women make a living by selling her body, men are just another paying customer, and there is no romantic involvement or emotional attachment. Men are using women for sex; they are in turn using them for money.

I smiled. I foot the bill and walked away from there thinking: “When a man is poor he begs and a woman sells.”

life changes with patience

Henry Wadsworth once said, “For after all, the best thing one can do when it is raining is let it rain.” Fighting against it is just like adding salt to your injuries. Drop this struggle and save your energy and live in peace.

Human relationship is always a subject of change and knowing this fact is intelligence and skill. Situations of life trap us at a point where it seems very natural to react and fight to change but mostly we end up hurting ourselves without learning the silent message of life. In no way I am telling you not to try to change which you don’t like in your life. All I am saying is to act and not to react.

Let me explain this to you with an example. Suppose you get a job in a company which is very good and it meets all your requirements and you are happy there but on the other hand you find your co-workers are not at all good to you. They laugh at you. They make you a subject of mockery and they often find fault in your work and in your talk and laugh at you.  In fact such situation is very common in corporate because people need to pass time and have fun in their life so they want someone to make fun of. It is a pain for you to adjust and a double whammy if you react. You know well that you will be alone and no one will understand you and everyone will pooh pooh you. And at last you will not get the help which you require from your team mates and your survival will be difficult within the organization. Such situation is in fact a true test of your patience and personality. You know you can’t stop others and your managers will not also interfere much then you know well where you should focus, only on calendar. As you gain some experience other company will hire you. You will get yourself free against all odds and you will learn that time never take long to change.

This simple understanding of the situation and accepting it can help you start afresh in life.  Osho had once said: Live in this world with all its nuances but be detached.

Of course, we are carnal beings and it is hard to be detached but some circumstances, places and time make you learn to let go and gradually acceptance follows and you learn to forgive. Here, at the point of forgiveness I like to be clearer that you can’t forgive and forget until you have not completely taken yourself out from those odds. It will remain deep in you like your bone and flesh and push your reactionary force to react every now and then. But never forget that such situations always bring great changes in man’s life. If you are non-reactive and wait patiently for the right moment then your life will certainly move into a positive direction and towards better future.

I am not telling you something bookish. I am trying to tell you which experience has taught me. Einstein once said, “Out of clutter, find simplicity; from discord, find harmony; in the middle of difficulty, lies opportunity.”

Let yourself write

I often find people take a lot of time to start writing. It is not that they are not aware or not having information but they are not sure from where to start. They want to see their articles as they have read but they are overlooking the steps an article has to undergo.  Writing needs time. Write then read again and again. Automatically your writing will improve. It is important to first start writing, start sharing your thoughts on paper and then improvement will follow.

In fact writing is not as difficult as we think. Let us start with the idea why we find it so difficult to start writing. Speaking something from your mind is very easy but writing those same words seems next to impossible. When you speak you don’t go back to your first words and start listening to all you said, you just speak in a flow but when you write you can again and again go back to the first words and can do improvisation.

In fact a well written draft is not written in one go. One reads his or her own draft again and again to see the areas to improve.  It is always good to leave your draft for some time then look at the draft again with fresh eyes. Things will definitely improve and so you will be with your final draft.

You can now show this draft to your friends or to those whom you feel qualified enough to judge your written word and help you to write further and better. Soon you will gain confidence to write and as you know learning is a slow process similarly you will learn to write slowly.

It is always good to start with subjects which you feel you have some good amount of information and you can share your knowledge and information with your friends and relatives. If you like you can start with writing letters or mails. It is always good to start writing about yourself. Everyone surely has something to say about themselves and the more and regularly you write the sooner you come into habit of writing. You don’t have to worry how good you are but first start to write. Soon improvement will follow.

If you write, people will say good and bad things for sure but try to keep deaf ears on them. Your job is to write and soon you will find that you can judge yourself and judge who can help you to improve. If you don´t find anyone good enough don’t worry, you will find them later and till then keep writing.

There are several people who write blogs and allow guest posting. You can come in contact with them. They can give you space in their blog page. You can send your draft to several new magazines that are looking for new writers with their fresh ideas.

It is always good to read some of the good authors as per your desired area of interest. If you ask me I love to read Pablo Coelho’s novels and blogs. Try to find such authors to read and see how fluidly they write on some very common topics. This will encourage you to read more and write further and better.

Book is really your good friend and knowing your friends is always a good experience. Read as much as you can and you will find better ideas to write your things. Don’t think that your first draft will be your final draft. Write again and again until you get a sense that now all is correct and makes sense.

Writing is an extreme privilege but it’s also a gift. It’s a gift to yourself and it’s a gift of giving a story to someone. Amy Tan
